$201,150 For Ronald McDonald House!

The Addison Rotary Club celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the Addison Rotary Open (ARO) golf tournament on Monday September 14, 2015 at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano.  The ARO is consistently ranked as one of DFW’s top charity golf tournaments and attracts a crowd of nearly 250 golfers. Addison-based GLM, DFW, Inc. returned as the presenting sponsor for the sixth consecutive year and for the eighth year the outing benefits Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD). Says Mary Galvan, owner of GLM, DFW, “Joe and I are pleased to sponsor this event each year, we believe in the philanthropic efforts of the Addison Rotary and we wholeheartedly support the mission of RMHD.” Ronald McDonald House of Dallas provides a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children seeking medical treatment at area hospitals. One of those families, the Turner family from Eufaula, Oklahoma, experienced a lengthy stay at RMHD from February through May of 2015. Clay Turner recounted to the packed room his experience at the House after his five year old son received serious leg and pelvis injuries and his two year old daughter sustained a critical brain injury due to a car accident. Said Turner, “Even though I’m a strong Christian, it was a time of extreme despair and fear for our family and Ronald McDonald House was a source of comfort for us.

The hospital took care of our son and daughter, but the House took care of my wife, middle child and me. The care given by the staff and volunteers makes all the difference to families going through a medical crisis”. The Turners returned to their home in Oklahoma at the end of May; both children were doing well.

The ARO offers many sponsorship levels from a Diamond Sponsorship at $10,000 (which includes 12 playing spots) to Individual Playing Spots at $750. To see all of the sponsorship levels please visit www.AddisonRotaryOpen.org. The day includes lunch, golf, prizes, silent and live auctions and a post tournament dinner party. There is also a raffle and this year’s prize is a trip for two to Maui with 7 days/6 nights at the Fairmont Kea Lani. The Addison Cantina Laredo has donated a complimentary Casa ‘Rita with each purchase of a raffle ticket. Tickets are $10 or 12 tickets for $100. The offer is good through November 15, 2015.
