The Rotary Club of Park Cities has a history of serving veterans. Evan Altemus, a new member in 2021 and a veteran himself, has taken the club in a new direction.
On the day before Thanksgiving about ten club members spent four hours cooking, sorting and serving a complete Thanksgiving meal to the sixty-seven Veterans who attended the event at the Veterans Resources Center and Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas. The Dallas Veterans Resources Center, located in South Dallas, has been able to stay open through the pandemic, providing two meals a day, showers and a laundry room, and access to coats, blankets and hygiene kits to needy veterans. Throughout January, RCPC members have been bringing underwear, socks, shirts, zip lock bags, sunscreen, insect repellant and other necessities to be delivered to the Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas to replenish their supplies. Donations could also be made on PayPal. This is the first of several projects to be done this year that will benefit our veterans.
