RYLA 2026 - Week of Camp Update
Camp RYLA 2026,  by all accounts, was a raving success!  Even though it has only been few days since we closed out the in-person camp program there is always lots going on for the students to continue the engagements from camp.    Cabin groups are still making sure they keep in touch with each other throughout the summer months.

Teacher Appreciation Breakfast at Guinn Special Programs
Teachers were treated to an Appreciation Breakfast hosted by Plano Metro Rotary on Tuesday, May 5. Rotary members enjoyed the opportunity to visit individually with teachers and learn more about their students and programs. The Guinn Special Programs Center, Part of Plano ISD, serves at‑risk high school students through a wide range of programs, including services for expectant parents, behavior management, accelerated curriculum, transitional education, dropout recovery, and credit recovery.

At this year’s Fire Rescue Appreciation Lunch, the Prestonwood Rotary had the distinct honor of recognizing three extraordinary individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service continue to make a profound impact on our community.

Rotary Club of Plano Rolls Up It's Sleeves
On Thursday April 30th, members of the Rotary Club of Plano rolled up their sleeves and spent a productive afternoon volunteering at the Plano ISD Foundation Core Store, tackling essential inventory work to support local educators and students. With smiles and camaraderie, Rotarians sorted, counted, and organized shelves full of donated classroom supplies, technology accessories, and educational materials, ensuring the store’s resources were accurately tracked and readily available for teachers across the district.

Melissa Rotary Calls for Volunteers to Support Texas Special Olympics Summer Games
The air was thick with more than just the morning humidity as volunteers from the Melissa Rotary Club, community member, and Melissa Interact arrived at the Summer Games. There was a palpable sense of purpose. Before the first whistle blew or the first medal was draped, our team was already on the ground, transforming an empty venue into a stage for champions.

Mesquite Rotary Club Presents Students $12,000 in Scholarships
The Mesquite Rotary Club hosted its annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon at their meeting on May 19th. At the event, scholarship awards of $1,500 each were presented to graduating students from Mesquite High School, North Mesquite High School, West Mesquite High School, Poteet High School, John Horn High School, Vroonland Vanguard High School, Sunnyvale High School, and Dallas Christian School. This investment by the club in the future of these deserving area scholars totaled $12,000.

BRIDGES OF SOLIDARITY BETWEEN ROATÁNOTARY 5810 AND CARNIVAL CRUISES

 
District 5810 in Texas made an important donation to the Rotary Club of Roatan. It sent 11 containers filled with thousands of items to support schools and communities on the island. This initiative was organized by PDG Regina Edwards, who has worked closely with Roatán since 2022. This effort has strengthened the bonds of service between her district and the Rotary Club of Roatan.

Addison Awards $1,000 Grant to Project Mom Bags Supporting Mothers of Babies in Cardiac ICU
The Addison Rotary Club recently welcomed leaders from Project Mom Bags, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers whose babies are receiving care in the cardiac intensive care unit. Following their presentation, the club awarded a $1,000 grant to help provide comfort bags for moms navigating one of the most difficult experiences a parent can face.

40 Years of Service Above Self

North Texas Pioneers Park cleanup
The service project for North Texas Pioneers Club for April was picking up trash in one of Plano’s parks. The club usually averages one full bag of trash for each member who volunteers about one hour of their time.

The Preston Trail Rotary Club was honored to present the Ralph O’Dell Scholarship to Avelyn Jensen, a scholarship that represents far more than academic achievement alone. The Ralph O’Dell Scholarship embodies the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” because Ralph O’Dell himself has spent a lifetime serving others with humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his community. For Ralph, service was never about recognition. It was about showing up, helping others, and quietly making a difference wherever he could.

Frisco Rotary Club Chili Fest
Frisco Rotary Chili Fest fundraiser held on April 30th at Rollertown Beerworks, Frisco from 11:30 am - 7:15 pm with live music. All proceeds from this event will go directly to college scholarships for Frisco students and grants to Frisco nonprofits. Total impact $10,000.
Melissa Honors Military: A Tradition of Pride and Gratitude 2026
Each year, as Memorial Day approaches, the area surrounding Melissa City Hall transforms into a powerful tribute to service and sacrifice. Through the Melissa Honors Military program—supported by the Melissa Rotary Club and facilitated by the City of Melissa—banners featuring the faces and names of local service members rise proudly along the walkways and green spaces.
