This month is Basic Education & Literacy month. I encourage clubs to emphasize this in three ways.
Do something at a local school. Have an event with Interactors or Rotaractors focused on education or literacy. Take an action video and photos. Send those to Pam Blankenzee with an article for the website. Put them on your website & social media!
Stephanie A. Urchick, of the Rotary Club of McMurray, Pennsylvania, USA, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2024-25, a decision that would make her only the second woman to hold that position. She will be declared the president-nominee on 1 October if no challenging candidates have been suggested.

The more you promote your Club, the better the odds are at increasing your membership. It is a win-win all around! Each level game introduces you to tools and resources to promote your Club to your members, around the District, your community and Rotary International.
Every year, Rotarians and Rotaractors across the globe mobilize for WORLD POLIO DAY to raise awareness about eradicating polio for good. If we stay committed, polio will be the second human disease ever to be eradicated.
We are excited to announce a new District Public Tool the "MEMBER SPOTLIGHT" template that will help Clubs promote current members! Submit your member's photo and we will send you back the graphic, then you post on your website and/or social media. Don't forget to tag the District (@RotaryDistrict5810) and use hashtags #District5810Proud #WeAreRotary and (include your Club Hashtag).
We have a committee hard at work to make the most of North Texas Giving Day (NTGD), coming up on September 22nd. NTGD is a massive regional campaign to raise funds for hundreds of local non-profits, and for the last several years, RYLA 5810 has participated to raise funds to help continue all the on-going district RYLA programs that extend beyond camp and throughout the year.
On August 6 Plano West Rotary Club (PWRC) volunteers helped Jaxson Turner’s N2Y2C Charity stuff 200 brand-new backpacks with school supplies. The backpacks were distributed the next day to Collin County students.
At our August 2,2022, meeting, we brought packaged rolls of Toilet Paper for Metrocrest Services’ Food Pantry. Toilet paper is one of the most expensive items for the pantry to purchase, and with the Food Pantry serving over 900 families each week, they distribute lots of tissue!
For several decades members of the Rotary Club of Park Cities have been preparing and serving dinner once a month to the families staying at Ronald McDonald House – until the COVID pandemic.
Three teachers in the Dallas Independent School District were honored as Teacher of the Year for elementary, middle and high schools, by the Rotary Club of Dallas at ceremonies on August 10.
District 5810 Grant funding enabled the Suicide Prevention and Brain Health Rotary eClub to provide ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) to more than 20 attendees on June 24-25 in Mesquite.
