It is hard to believe that we are already at the halfway point in the Rotary Year.  For me and I am sure for many of you, it has flown by.   I encourage you to stop and take stock of what you and your club has accomplished measured against the clubs’ goals and update them as needed.

RYLA Roundup for all clubs to kick-off the 2023 RYLA Year.
The RYLA Information Roundup/Kick-Off for the District 5810 Camp RYLA Program will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Dallas College/Brookhaven Campus.  Located at 3939 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, TX 75244.

Rotary Youth Exchange 2022-23 Update
This team interviewed 10 students for the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.   We will have 5 long term and 5 short term exchange students next year (2023-2024).   Wow, what a change from this year when we had two students.

Rotary Club of Dallas’s 18th Annual Salute to America's Veterans

World War II Veteran’s Memories Inspire

Witness to the end of war with Japan is a symbol for what America could be again. Greta Friedman was kissed by a sailor in Times Square in this iconic photo that came to symbolize the country's jubilation about the end of World War II. Celebrating the Warmth of Old and New Friends in Plano
The five Plano Rotary Clubs celebrated the holidays together with great food, ugly sweaters an a coat drive for Plano Christmas Cops. It was a quick count that revealed a collection of 75-80 new coats for kids of all ages in Plano. This effort has become a tradition for Rotary Clubs in Plano.

Holiday Cheer & Doll Toy Drive
Coppell Rotarians celebrated the holidays with our annual Holiday Party and "Barbie Like Me" Toy Drive. The club collected 75 dolls of color to donate to unprivileged children with the same skin color. This is an effort to help build self-esteem and encourage positive self identify among minority kids.
Serving Our National Guard Unit
The Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork was invited to assist the non-profit His Gracious Hands in serving lunch to the troops at the Wylie National Guard Armory. The day was their monthly guard training for December. Lunch by Napoli's Wylie was served along with homemade desserts, lots of gifts for the service men and women's children and a full stocking of their no questions asked food pantry. It was an honor to serve these 130 men and women!
Mesquite Rotary Donates $10,000 to Mesquite ISD Education Foundation
 
Mesquite Rotary Club President Dr. Jones Doughton presented a $10,000 donation check to the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation during the club’s meeting on December 6th. Foundation Executive Director Randy Lewallyn accepted the check.

Field Trip to the Historic Brown House
The Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork had a field trip early in December to the historic Brown House in downtown Wylie. The home is full of history, a gift shop and even a ghost resides upstairs. Club members learned about Wylie's history, viewed antique maps and treasures. When near Wylie, drop by this home for a tour!

Plano West Rotary Holiday Craft Project Celebrates Plano Residents
Plano West Rotary Club was honored to be asked this year by the City of Plano to help lead the childrens’ craft at Dickens, the annual holiday festival in Downtown Plano. The event was sponsored by Plano newcomer H-E-B.

Rotarians Host Coppell Students at the Coppell Arts Center
Coppell Rotarians were honored to host over 100 students and their families at the Coppell Arts Center for a joyous singalong with the Coppell Chorale. This is the 2nd annual Holiday Student Extravaganza hosted by the Coppell Rotary. Our goal is to expose as many children as possible to the arts and support our neighborhood gem, the Coppell Arts Center.

Addison Midday Rotary Club Helps Prepare the Metrocrest Services Holiday Store
On December 6, 2022, members of the Addison Midday Rotary Club helped prepare the Metrocrest Services Holiday Store to open for the season.  We helped setup, organize and sort the items. Helping at the Metrocrest Services Holiday Store is an annual tradition. The Metrocrest Holiday Store is located at 11888 Marsh Lane, Suite 408, Dallas, TX 75244. 

Coppell Rotarians and Boy Scouts Retire US Flags
Coppell Rotarians hosted Boy Scout Troop 840 for a U.S. Flag retirement ceremony. It was a beautiful evening, the occasion was solemn as the Boy Scouts performed a meaningful ceremony that touched everyone in the attendance. It was the perfect end to our successful 2022 Flag Program.
