Happy Holidays! Thank you all for the incredible tributes many clubs gave to our Veterans. From luncheons to flag ceremonies to awarding Distinguished Service awards, it was a full month of celebrating their sacrifices on our behalf. It was inspiring!
The Rotary Club of Rockwall recently hosted a celebration to mark its 80th Anniversary. On April 6, 1939, there were 20 charter members forming the city’s oldest civic club.
The 15th Annual Salute to America’s Veterans was held on November 6th at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. The keynote speaker was Admiral Patrick Walsh, USN, Retired, last serving as the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
One of RYLA 5810's great programs is Day 7. This year's event was held on November 23rd (as usual, the Saturday before Thanksgiving) at RL Turner High School for 140 students and 55 alumni staff helping out.

The Plano Flags of Honors program ran from November 8-16th and was sponsored by the Plano East Rotary Club. A special higlight, was presentation of Bronze Star and POW medals to a WW II veteran's family that survived the Bataan Death March.

Allen's Rotary clubs are once again putting on the Annual Christmas Parade. The parade, which is sponsored by the Allen Sunrise and Allen Noon Rotary Clubs, will be held on Sunday December 8, starting at 2 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “Tidings of Comfort and Joy.”
Local youth groups, schools, churches, businesses and community organizations are welcome to march or enter a float in this year’s parade. Proceeds from the parade fund charitable Rotary projects in the Allen community.
At today's, Mesquite Rotary Club meeting, we asked our members to help Sharing Life with their holiday food drive, and the members performed very well. We literally collected a truck load of food and cooking supplies to be donated to the Sharing Life food pantry. This will help many families have a better Thanksgiving.

Dozens gathered near City Park in Commerce on a chilly Friday night to honor local veterans. There, they witnessed the official dedication of the new “Waves of Glory” installation across the street from the park. Students from Faith Family Academy recently volunteered at 2 local events for the Salvation Army. The students built Angel Tree packets and then also worked at North Park Mall to actually distribute these to patrons of the mall.
Are vaccines important? Let me explain how lack of the polio vaccine changed my mom’s life in the 1930’s. Polio epidemics used to pop up from nowhere, and my mom as a toddler caught the devastating virus, resulting in much despair and suffering. Let me jump forward to the 1970’s, to my toddler days, when we kids were all privileged to be protected by the polio vaccine.
