Mesquite Rotary Club president Brad Davis presented a $5,000 donation check to the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation at their meeting on February 18th. Foundation executive director Randy Lewallyn accepted the check.
Members of White Rock Rotary and Rotary Club of Dallas assisted White Rock Center of Hope with food distribution to the needy last Saturday. Volunteer jobs included bagging fruit, making food packages, loading and directing traffic. It was a record breaking food distribution day. The work really honored the meaning of 4 way test principles.
The Rockwall Rotary Club partnered in service with Rockwall High School Interact Club at Feed My Starving Children. The large group of students and Rotarians packed boxes totaling over 30,000 meals! This resulted in feeding over 80 children in Haiti for one year!
North Texas Pioneers Rotary had a very rewarding blood drive at St Elizabeth Seton Church this past month. With the help of the Plano Sunrise Rotary members were able to collect 51 units of blood which will help save 153 lives. It’s always fulfilling to volunteer with other Rotary clubs to help the community.
The Waxahachie Rotary Club hosted an unforgettable 1st Annual Distinguished Officers Awards – Honor Our Heroes event on Thursday, March 13, during our noon meeting. The room was filled with energy, gratitude, and a shared commitment to Service Above Self as we recognized some of Waxahachie’s finest public servants.
On Saturday, March 22, under the leadership of Leon McCowan, the DeSoto Rotary Club teamed up with Concerned DeSoto Citizens (CDC) and DeSoto ISD for the Annual Bowling for Scholars event, raising funds for the DeSoto ISD Senior Class of 2025. The event saw incredible community participation, with over 65 teams from local businesses, organizations, and schools coming together in support of DeSoto’s graduating seniors.
Thirty-three years ago, as a high school student at R.M. Bailey Senior High School in The Bahamas, I joined the Interact Club. Little did I know, that decision would shape the course of my life. Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self” became the catalyst for my lifelong commitment to serving humanity.
Hats off to the Rotary Club of Duncanville for completing their beloved service project “Blessing the Teachers Lounges”! Over the past 2 years, Duncanville Rotarians renovated and refreshed the teachers lounges on all 19 campuses.

In late 2022, I discovered an interesting international project called The Cambodia Academy, a rural school providing hope and education to over 350 students in the Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia. Aside from the great work that this charity performs in a very underserved part of Asia, I learned that this school was founded, funded and often led by Rotarians from all over the world.
