April was another great month! We participated in EarthX at the Anatole in Dallas - many thanks to those who volunteered to work at the membership booth and especially to Allen McReynolds and PDG Regina Edwards for their "above and beyond" efforts. They both helped to host Barry Rassin, past RI President, who was a keynote speaker. Allen was the chair for our District and Regina served as a speaker as well as an aide for Barry. We also partnered with District 5790 (FW area) for this event.

District 5810 proudly hosted its annual 4-Way Speech Contest, showcasing the incredible talent, insight, and passion of students from across our communities. The Mesquite Rotary Club hosted its annual "Four Way Test" Speech Contest at the Mesquite ISD David Belt Professional Development Center on April 7th. Contestants from Mesquite I.S.D. high schools participated in the event. Each student gave a five-to-seven-minute original speech about applying the Rotary Four Way Test in our everyday relationships with other people and students.
On April 4, the DeSoto Rotary Club teamed up with the DeSoto Fire & Rescue Department and the DeSoto Police Department to present the first annual DeSoto Rotary Easter Egg Hunter for the DeSoto ISD community. The family-friendly event drew kids and adults alike for a morning of fun, laughter, and community spirit.
The Easter Bunny made a surprise appearance, leading children in a lively bunny-hop dance before families enjoyed photos, coloring activities, and time with local first responders. More than 10,000 eggs were scattered across two exciting egg hunts, and officers and firefighters joined children in coloring and hunting—creating a joyful, welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
In the early hours before the festival officially began, teams of volunteers were already hard at work behind the scenes. Organized and recruited by Melissa Rotary, community members of all ages stepped up to ensure the event ran smoothly from the ground up. Their primary mission: manage vendor parking logistics and assist with vendor setup—two critical components of a successful festival that often go unnoticed by attendees.
The Rotary Peace Pole project serves as a pledge to facilitate local and global harmony. On Thursday, April 2, 2026, members of the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club joined with elected officials, community leaders, and local students to dedicate a new Peace Pole in San Jacinto Plaza. The installation, in Rockwall’s historic downtown, serves as a visible symbol of hope and unity, inspiring people to work together throughout the community and across the world.
Love seeing our Rotarians out serving. Helping Hands of Celina’s prom event is such a special way to give back and make a difference for our community. This wonderful event makes sure every student who wants to attend Prom has a beautiful dress. They go out of their way to ensure the experience is spectacular.
22 Rotarians and non-Rotarians from across the country partnered with Rotarians in Chihuahua, Mexico (District 4110) at the Guerrero Clinic during the week of March 16th to help 800 Indigent Mexicans, Mennonites, and Tarahumara Indians regain or improve sight through cataract surgery or prescription glasses. Dentists were also there to provide care.
Springtime in White Rock triggers one of our main community projects for White Rock Rotary Club – Planting the Sisters’ Garden. Members look forward to this time each year. Here you can see Rotarian Ed Schaefer with gloved hands as he consults with owners of the garden to make the best efforts for planting seeds. The project as evolved from planting vegetables to one of beautification in a fairly barren area. It is also a fun time for all involved when they get to gather with old friends and make new ones.
Park Cities Rotary members volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank on April 10 for their annual Spring Packing Day. The club volunteers twice a year. On this Saturday morning they packed 10,800 pounds of food equaling 9,000 meals into 2,160 bags on 9 pallets.
Dallas Uptown Rotarians served dinner to firemen at Fire Station #1 in Dallas. All three shifts were fed delicious chicken Parmesan meals from Cremonas Italian Bistro.
A few years ago, the Plano Rotary Club learned that Children's Hospital Plano had run out of “Busy Boxes” for young patients—and they stepped in to help. These special plastic shoeboxes are filled with fidgets, puzzles, markers, books, stuffed animals, and more—offering comfort and distraction for children during hospital stays, treatments, and even EMT visits.
The Rockwall Breakfast Club is completing a four-year project on May 6, 2026. The club was alerted by one of their flag subscribers in July 2022 of an African American veterans’ cemetery that very few people in the community knew anything about.
Members of the Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club stepped up to serve as part of the City of Grand Prairie's Big Event, a citywide volunteer day. Typically, the Big Event has approximately 1,500 volunteers helping with more than 100 jobs throughout the Grand Prairie community.

A team of Mesquite Rotary Club members worked side-by-side with retired Mesquite teachers on April 23rd to sort and label books to be delivered to all Mesquite ISD first graders, and also assisted the retired teachers in delivering the books to the schools on April 23rd and 24th. Since 2015, the Mesquite Rotary Club has donated funds each year in support of the Mesquite Association of Retired School Employees’ Book Project. Combined with funds donated by MARSE members, the Mesquite Elks Lodge #2404 Auxiliary, and Williams Paint and Body, this enables the project to give a book to each first grade student in the district.

Designed to address rising polarization and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue, the event promises a full day of learning and engagement centered on practical peacebuilding skills.
On Saturday, 4/19/26, McKinney Sunrise Rotarians gathered outside Market Street in McKinney to promote their flag lease program and encourage Rotary membership. More than 350 small flags that had been donated to the club were distributed to shoppers, along with details on the flag lease program and Rotary.
