This is the twentieth anniversary of the Rotary Club of Park Cities’ sponsorship of the Park Cities Fourth of July Parade and Celebration. Based on suggestions by club members, the theme this year is “Freedom to Serve.” Our Grand Marshal this year is Jan Langbein, CEO of Genesis Women’s Shelter and activist in efforts to end violence against women. The Parade beneficiary is the North Texas Food Bank. Come join the fun! Watch the Parade and celebrate in Goar Park following the Parade. It is all free and family-friendly!

Happy 40th Anniversary to the Rotary Club of Coppell! During a Tuesday night city council meeting, Coppell Rotarians were honored with a city Proclamation.
Camp RYLA 2023, by all accounts, was a raving success! Even though it has only been 1 month since we closed out the in-person camp program there is always lots going on for the students to continue the engagements from camp. Cabin groups are still making sure they keep in touch with each other through out the summer months.
While riding a motorcycle for charity, a member of the Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork forged connections with other Rotarians around the world. Speaking during the club’s Thursday, June 1, meeting at Landon Winery, Charlie Waller told members about traveling across India by motorcycle from Jan. 13-28. The ride, in its fifth year, is a way to raise money for The Rotary Foundation, which provides scholarships and other funding opportunities to Rotary clubs around the world.
The Rotary Club of Park Cities awards two $2,000 scholarships to seniors at Hillcrest H.S. They were introduced to the club at our meeting on May 26. The scholarship recipients are selected through an application and interview process at Hillcrest H.S. Both girls were highly recommended by their teachers.
On June 20, 2023, the Richardson Rotary sponsored a City of Richardson 150th Anniversary history event at The Eisemann Center. This was open to the public. A panel of current and former city managers, long time mayor, and an education leader discussed the colorful history of Richardson, Texas.
On Saturday, June 10th at the June Roundtable, winners of the Public Image Champion Games received their certificates and were entered into a raffle for a cash prize. Raffle winners are: $250 for RC of Coppell, $150 for RC of McKinney and $100 for RC of Plano West!

Grand Prairie Metro club member Fernando Guiza recently visited his hometown of Puruándiro, a municipality in Michoacán, Mexico. He was able to attend a meeting of the Club Rotario Puruándiro D4140 where his grandfather and father were members. In fact, his grandfather was one of the first members to join Rotary in Puruándiro over 40 years ago. “I was very happy to visit them now as a Rotarian in the U.S. and create bonds of fellowship and support,” he said.
Rotary Club of Coppell passed out “Citations of Appreciation” to Coppell Police during “Coffee with a Cop” on warm Saturday in June at Coppell ER. Each citation had a gift card for $10 to Firehouse Subs! This was to thank Coppell Police for their dedication and service to Coppell Residents.
Plano West Rotary is committed to serving the Plano community. The club holds pecan sales and funnel cake sales as fundraisers throughout the year that allow Plano West to donate some of these funds towards student scholarships, while other funds are distributed as grants to nonprofits working within Plano to enrich the lives of citizens
The Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club is hosting the 37th Annual Lake Joe Pool Pumpkin Run on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Proceeds from this event are used to support a number of local non-profits.
