Hello, fellow District 5810 Rotarians. As we read this on October 1, I hope we’re seeing the first signs that summer is finally behind us—and perhaps some rain in the forecast.
Join Rotary District 5810 on October 24 for the World’s Largest Polio Walk! On World Polio Day, October 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Rotarians, friends, family and community members from across District 5810 will come together at Brookhaven Main Campus in Farmers Branch to walk for a world free from polio.
Come discuss with us on Wednesday, October 21st, 7:00 pm Membership strategies to identify and invite vibrant community prospects. Our panelists include Membership chairmen from clubs who’ve been particularly successful at individually inviting new members: Denise Root, Cedar Hill and Marti Gallardo, Addison Midday. Across the district, Rotary clubs are raising a glass—and raising awareness—for a world without polio! Pints for Polio events bring Rotarians, friends, family and community members together for a little fun and a powerful purpose: helping Rotary finish the fight to end polio.

As part of District 5810 Governor Mike Callahan’s year of service, the Governor’s Spousal Project is supporting The Senior Source and its work with older adults throughout the Dallas area. From that broader effort, a special Prestonwood Rotary initiative emerged: 75 Clocks for 75 Seniors. The idea was simple but meaningful: provide 75 easy-to-read day, date, and time clocks to seniors who could benefit from a little extra help staying oriented throughout the day.
The local food pantry Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors was lent a hand by Prosper Rotary. We repackaged food to get ready to hand out to those that need it in the area and brought some cheer to the folks here.
Park Cities Rotary Club was honored to present a $10,000 grant from the Park Cities Rotary Club Foundation to the Dallas Bethlehem Center, supporting its efforts to address food insecurity in the community. The Dallas Bethlehem Center initially requested a $5,000 grant to help repair its freezer and purchase protein—two important needs that directly support its ability to provide food to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The Rotary Club of Dallas recently put Service Above Self into action during a Service Day at the White Rock Center of Hope. Club members helped distribute food that will provide meals for nearly 1,500 people in the community.
McKinney Rotary Club members recently came together to assemble care packages for Little Hearts of Hope, a nonprofit supporting children and families navigating the difficult journey of a cancer diagnosis. Sometimes, service is simply showing up, working together, and reminding a family that their community cares. Thank you to the McKinney Rotarians for putting Service Above Self into action and bringing a little extra hope and compassion to families when they need it most.

The Rotary Club of Park Cities joined fellow Rotarians and community partners at Austin Street Center for the annual “Foot Care Clinic for the Homeless,” providing much more than foot care — providing comfort, dignity, and compassion to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

For 40 years, the Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club has welcomed runners and walkers of all ages to the annual Lake Joe Pool Pumpkin Run. The event includes a pancake breakfast, medals, and good-spirited competition. All proceeds from the Pumpkin Run go to local charities. Register.
Recently, in my role as Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5810, I had the privilege of inducting Balki Chamkura as president of the Rotary Club of Coppell.
It was a joyous occasion. Balki’s family was there: his wife, his adult children, his mother, his mother-in-law, his sister-in-law, and his nephew. It was not simply a new Rotary president installation, it was a family milestone.
The Oil Creek Classic, a fly-fishing tournament held each May, has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Titusville, Pennsylvania, since 2014 to raise money for youth programs and scholarships.
