Hello District 5810 Rotarians. Today, August 1 is a very special day for our family, as our eldest daughter Tara Callahan is getting married in Ft Worth to her true love, Sean Cartee. Jill and I are so happy for them, and we welcome the addition of Sean to our family. I can’t think of a better reason to miss the Rotary Multi District Training Institute in Pflugerville this weekend. Thank you, PDG Mary Bedosky, for filling in for me. I look forward to hearing all about RMDTI at next week’s Club Leadership Exchange.

On July 11, Rotarians came together in the spirit of Service Above Self to support the annual Beat the Heat project, providing cooling fans to seniors throughout the community. As summer temperatures continue to rise, access to a cooling fan can make a meaningful difference for older adults, helping them stay safe, comfortable, and healthy during periods of extreme heat.
GREENVILLE, Texas — The Greenville Rotary Club celebrated another year of service and generosity during its Annual Banquet held on Friday, June 26, 2026, highlighting a remarkable $69,000 in total community giving that benefited dozens of local and regional organizations, students, and charitable initiatives.
Prior to the banquet, the club had already distributed $49,000 to a wide range of nonprofit organizations and community programs throughout Hunt County and beyond. Recipients included The American Cotton Museum, Bob Wills Fiddle Festival, Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Texas, Hunt County Bras for the Cause, RAFFA, Hunt County CASA, Hunt County Children’s Advocacy Center, Greenville ISD Project Graduation, Shepherds Watch, SCRPT (Senior Center), 3FP, Hope For You, Drug Free Greenville, Hunt County Shared Ministries (FISH), Arms of Hope, Trail Life, Sabine Amateur Radio Club, and the Trevor Wade Daniel Foundation.
Members of the Rotary Club of McKinney were honored to attend the grand opening of Hugs Cafe's new location, celebrating an important milestone for one of our community's most inspiring organizations.
During the celebration, the club presented a commemorative plaque recognizing the grand opening and the valued partnership between Hugs Cafe and the Rotary Club of McKinney. The event was especially meaningful, as Rotarians had previously toured the facility while it was still under construction, witnessing firsthand the vision that has now become a vibrant reality.
Our first meeting of the 2026-27 fiscal year members cheered on five students from Lake Highlands High School who received scholarships and one who attended RYLA camp this year from White Rock Rotary. Selecting these students who got scholarships proved to be challenging as all applicants had excellent academic records.
It was another great Parade, followed by fun for the kids in the park, including bounce houses, a petting zoo, pony rides, and face painting. There were vendors from the community with give aways, too.
As students prepare to head back to the classroom, the Rotary Club of Royse City is helping ensure they have the supplies needed for a successful start to the school year. The club recently contributed a generous collection of school supplies to a local back-to-school event, providing essential classroom materials for students and families in the community. Plano Sunrise Rotary has had a long working relationship with Lovepacs. Their mission is to provide Lovepacs to needy children in Plano ISD. Despite its reputation as en excellent school system, PISD has challenges with students facing food insecurity. LovePacs addresses that need by providing a box of food so that children on free/reduced price lunch, have food for the other meals of the day.
North Texas Pioneers had Jaxson Turner speak to their club about Never2Young2Care (N2Y2C). When Jaxson was 11 1/2 years old he started using his own money to help the homeless children in Plano.
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Duncanville Rotarians had the wonderful honor of hosting District Governor Michael Callahan at their Regular Meeting. President Joe Washington opened up the meeting by introducing guests with a focus on “Rotary Means Business” and then DG Callahan shared his vision for the district and goals for membership retention. Together, we as Rotarians will “create lasting impact”!

Grand Prairie Metro Rotary welcomed back Bianca Heath who was a Rotary Youth Exchange student from Brazil hosted by the club 30 years ago. Now a U.S. citizen, Bianca told her story of how Rotary has positively impacted her life in many ways.
