My goodness, how time does fly! With my wife Janie, we have visited 40 clubs in just under 2 months of leading and learning about the great qualities of our District. We have had the pleasure of meeting and serving with a wonderful bunch of Rotarians during our visits. They are doing the good works of service to their communities.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, providing us with the opportunity to learn about and recognize risk factors and warning signs of suicide, support and refer those that struggle and save lives.

Rotary Youth Exchange is alive and well in District 5810. After 8 monthly orientations our outbound long-term students are leaving. Zaley is going to Japan on August 18 and her sister Sydney is leaving on August 5 for Switzerland.
A long-time resident of Celina found themselves in need of assistance to bring their yard's trees and debris up to code. Facing limitations in carrying out the work themselves, these residents were in urgent need of help.
Grand Prairie Metro Rotary joined DG John Curtis and his lovely wife, Janie, in a service project to benefit Streetside Showers, filling over 100 bags with much-needed personal hygiene items.
Three Dallas Independent School District teachers who go above and beyond their job descriptions to help their students were honored by the Rotary Club of Dallas on Aug 9.
At the Melissa Rotary's Aug 10th meeting with District Governor, John Curtis and his wife, Janie, we presented a $250 check to Polio Plus in Janie’s name. We also worked as a group to assemble 60 Veteran Comfort bags which we plan to deliver to the VA home up in Bonham later this month.

As a service project, Richardson Rotary Club members filled snack bags at Network of Community Ministries, Richardson. A summertime Network program , the snack bags are provided at no charge to qualified Richardson ISD children to ensure “no kid goes hungry during the summer.”
At our club meeting on August 4th, members of the Preston Trail Rotary Club brought in school supplies to fill backpacks for the students of Celina. The club collaborated to pack donated backpacks with much-needed school supplies. Dr. Tom, the Celina Superintendent, personally delivered all the backpacks to our Primary Campus where the need was greatest. Members united to address a community need and exemplify our motto 'People of Action"
We have a committee hard at work to make the most of North Texas Giving Day (NTXGD), coming up on September 21st. NTXGD is a massive regional campaign to raise funds for hundreds of local non-profits, and for the last several years, RYLA 5810 has participated to raise funds to help continue all the on-going district RYLA programs that extend beyond camp and throughout the year.
Suddenly your hungry and you need a snack...you know that feeling. Many Coppell learners experience short term hunger but for some reason they are not able to bring snacks to school. That's where Coppell Rotary steps in! Many times a year we provide snack packs with encouraging notes ( we call them "Notes & Nibbles") for students in need of snacks for that short term hunger gap. We enjoy this project and so do our schools. They keep us busy all school year!
As members of the Plano Community Rotaract Club, our commitment to local community service projects in the Dallas area drives us forward. We're excited to introduce an ongoing project that requires your support: a school supply drive aimed at assisting educators in our community.
On August 8, 2023, the Rotary Club of Duncanville blessed the teachers’ lounges at Merrifield, Fairmeadows, and Central Elementary Schools. With the help of Janet and Joe Veracruz, Gianni LaBarba, Karen Cherry-Brown, Sarena Chism, Jen Lott, and other Rotarians, the Club purchased, provided, and installed 5-gallon water dispensers with refills, commercial coffee makers, and hundreds of snacks for teachers and staff.

Prestonwood Rotary began their Back-To-School program by providing The ROC (Metro Ministries) with various school supplies for over 330 school children that are served by The ROC in Garland.
On Thursday, July 20th, members of Whie Rock rotary volunteered at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas in collaboration with the Northeast Neighborhood Patrol Division of Dallas Police Department as they held their annual Senior Health and Safety Brunch.
Members of the Richardson East Rotary Club volunteered at NETWORK of Community Ministries on August 30th to load backpacks with essential school supplies. The backpacks will be distributed to students in need on September 8th.

It's not everyday we get to throw a wedding shower. We celebrated the wedding of Rotarian Brandon and Milly at our last club meeting. It's fun to have young Rotarians and to surprise our members with an impromptu party!❤️
