Book Brigade to Mexico
We are on a mission to improve Literacy and
save books from US Landfills so another
precious child can enjoy the book.
Goal: Deliver 6 pallets/270 boxes of donations to Costa Maya, Mexico on District 5810's Annual Conference and International Service Cruise
January 12-19, 2025 on the Regal Princess.
Donations Requested by local Rotarians in District 4195:
60% children’s books with 1/2 in Spanish and
1/2 for Grades K-5 in English= 162 boxes
15% in assorted school supplies= 41 boxes
25% in children's shoes (used are ok if in good shape-tennis shoes are best) and sporting goods like footballs, soccer balls and basketballs
(deflated to save room)= 67 boxes
Equals 100% of assistance for local children in Costa Maya!
Deadlines:
Bring your boxes to District Roundtable at Dallas College-Brookhaven Campus on August 10th & September 14th with an inventory of each box attached to the box (no need to list book titles; just list the item name and # of each item in the box). October 1st is our deadline for receiving boxes & completing the manifest for the donations to be submitted to customs.
