Rotary Club of Dallas held it’s 11th Annual Safer Dallas Awards on Wednesday, February 26th  at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.  The program recognizes a Dallas Police Officer for Distinguished Service.
The award this year went to Lt. Leroy Quigg.  Lt. Quigg worked in the Gang Unit and developed Gang Intervention and Community Outreach Program (GI COP) with a mission to prevent youth from joining gangs and helping others to get out.  Lt Quigg is an amazing Dallas Police Officer and a deeply caring individual for the youth of Dallas.

The Public Safety Leader Award went to Motorola Solutions for their work with Dallas and the new Starlight Security Camera system.   These new cameras are being installed in and around high crime areas, particularly in the businesses that operate there.  This provided invaluable info to the Dallas Police when a crime is being committed.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall was the program speaker and she talked about what’s going on in Dallas to combat crime and add new officers to the police force.  There were over 130 attendees at this event and it was an amazing program.  The Rotary Club of Dallas presented a check to Safer Dallas to support programs and needs of the Dallas Police for almost $15,000.  This was raised from the Safer Dallas Golf event held each year.  Andy Montgomery, John Forest and Gary Griffith are our Club members who work closely with Safer Dallas.
