One of Coppell Rotary's Global Grants is to end the devastating global crisis of micronutrient malnutrition.
It's referred to as "hidden hunger" a deficiency of essential vitamins and minerals, specially folate, iron, vitamin A and Zinc which affects 50% of all preschool aged children and 67% of all women of reproductive age. These deficiencies cause devastating birth defects. With the fortification of food, the devastation can be eliminated.
A proposal is going before the World Health Organization to fortify food and Coppell Rotary is listed along with March of Dime, UNICEF and the Helen Keller Foundation. Our small club is making a BIG impact!
