The 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, hosted by The Rotary Club of Dallas benefitting Safer Dallas Better Dallas, took place on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Brookhaven Country Club.
We had a full tournament with 144 players, a huge turnout of volunteers from the Rotary Club of Dallas, and lots of fun guests, police officers, and attendees! Many of the players were members of the police force with SWAT and Equestrian forces attending to show their support of our event.

After the tournament, all the players were invited to stay for happy hour and The Rotary Club Meeting and Awards Dinner. Our Master of Ceremonies was legendary sports anchor and extraordinary philanthropist, Scott Murray. Our keynote speaker, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia, expressed how Rotary events and fundraisers such as this provide critical support to the DPD and its “weed and seed’ program to make Dallas the safest large city in America.

The Rotary Club of Dallas has put this event on for 7 years to raise money to support our Dallas Police officers through Safer Dallas Better Dallas, a non-profit which includes many Rotarians, and provides much needed equipment such as body cams, vests for the officers and K9 units, bait cars, weapons, and other critical, often life-saving, resources. This year the tournament is expected give Safer Dallas Better Dallas over $60,000 which will exceed all our prior years’ giving.

This tournament not only raises funds, but also raises the moral of the officers, as so many people from the community come out to support the event and participate to say “thanks” to the officers who are present. One of the main reasons we do this tournament each year is to show our love and support of the officers who pledge their lives to protecting and serving the communities they live in. Especially with so much bad news in the media, we want to make sure our police officers know they are greatly appreciated for what they do day in and day out.
