This month is Basic Education & Literacy month. I encourage clubs to emphasize this in three ways.
  • Do something at a local school. Have an event with Interactors or Rotaractors focused on education or literacy. Take an action video and photos.  Send those to Pam Blankenzee with an article for the website. Put them on your website & social media!
  • Educate your club!  Facilitate your club members creating an account on It is easy to do and only takes a few minutes. Have a ‘Create a My Rotary Account Sign-up’ at a social event or as a part of a club meeting. Bring some notebook computers or tablets and sign people up. It only takes about 5 minutes. This will allow them access to the incredible number of resources that are on Amongst the resources are free Rotary graphics, Public Image resources, grant training, free videos to show your club, on-line Rotary Magazines, RI governing documents and much more.  If you have not been there, you are missing out on many things that will help you and your club.
  • Go to the Learning Center and take one of the many courses that will make a difference in your knowledge of Rotary and build your skills.  Many clubs have people in leadership positions who would benefit from the free online training.  This will also help your club.
