Welcome to September, Rotary Literacy month.

We are making plans to hear about one of our Literacy Global Grants at the next Roundtable on September 18.  Speaking of which, we will also have all the District awards available for those who were not able to attend the Award banquet in August.
I have now visited 56 of our 63 clubs and continue to be amazed by all the unique projects our clubs have.  Take for instance, the Ennis club has provided funds for a splash Park in their city.  It is known as Rotary Park and has great signage.  The signature piece of the park is a Rotary wheel with water pouring over the top, causing it to turn.

Be sure you submit your applications for District Grants by September 30.

Are you interested in becoming a future District Governor or wish to serve on the interview committee?  Names of those interested in serving on the Nominating Committee must be  submitted by OCTOBER 2, 2021 to District  Parliamentarian George Tarpley at tarpley327@gmail.com.  The Nominating Committee will meet on the afternoon of Sunday, December 5, 2021 to select the District Governor for our 2024-2025 year.  The deadline to submit nominations for DG Nominee Designate: is FRIDAY NOVEMBER 5, 2021.

RI President Shekhar Mehta’s has established an initiative for  Empowering Girls.  It is an opportunity for Rotary clubs worldwide to engage in service projects that enhance, the safety, health, education and well-being girls in their local communities and across the globe.  Each District has been asked to appoint an individual to lead this initiative.  If you are interested, please email me at mduplant@gmail.com
