Dave McSpadden was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. Dave's career in being of service started with the role model of his parents in the community and in church. With their encouragement, Dave earned Scouting awards of Eagle Scout, God and Country Award and Explorer Silver Award.

Upon graduation from high school, Dave did a tour in the U.S. Army in a construction engineering battalion. After the Army he attended San Angelo College (now Angelo State University) studying business.

Dave has been in the construction and development industry since 1970. He has been living in Waxahachie, Texas since 1984 when he started McSpadden Development Corporation where is still serves as President and C.E.O. Today his company operates as MCC Design-Build is a designer, general contractor and renovator of hotels in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
Dave and Marilyn met over the telephone and arranged a "blind date" with each other a year later. They were married on Labor Day, 1983, on top of a mountain in Vail, Colorado and began their life adventures together that continue to this day. Marilyn, who was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, began working in partnership with Dave in their construction and development business. Marilyn is also the Managing Director of their property management company. Marilyn's Dad was in Rotary most of her life and he served as District Governor of District 5790, 1980-81. Dave & Marilyn have two married sons, a married daughter and 4 grandchildren. Their sons live in San Francisco (Director of Marketing for eBay and father of 2 wonderful daughters), New York (an independent music producer, jazz trumpet musician and father of an amazing son) and their daughter lives in Waxahachie (where she serves the world as a superlative Mom of an awesome daughter). Obviously Dave and Marilyn are reveling in their grandparenthood.

When Dave and Marilyn moved to Waxahachie in 1984 he immediately joined the Rotary Club of Waxahachie. Since then he has served Rotary in the following manner: Club Board of Directors 1985-90 Club Community Service Director 1985-86 Club International Service Chairman 1986-87 Club President 1987-88 District Governor's Representative 1988-89, 1989-90, 1990-91 District 5810 Director of International Service 1991-92 Membership on various Club and District Committees Since 1985 Club Committee Chairman of New Member Orientation 1997 to Present District 5810 Chairman - New Member Orientation Committee 2003-04, 2004-05 Co-Founder and District 5810 Chairman of the Rotary International Leadership Institute – 2005-06 & 2006-07 Dave and Marilyn are both Paul Harris Fellows. Dave is a contributor to PDG Milton Kessel's book on the History of Rotary District 5810, as the founder and Co-Chairman of the "Spirit of America Rally" in 1991 that brought Districts 5810 and 5790 together for a jointly sponsored event for the troops of Desert Storm at Texas Stadium.
