District 5810 is on the hunt for 6th-8th grade girls who are making strides to change the world around them. United Nations declared October 11 International Day of the Girl. To celebrate, District 5810 is launching Girl Possible. We will identify young girls who can be the voice or role model for other young girls in our district.
To help find these young ladies, we will be accepting essays from girls describing what they are accomplishing using their talents and resources today, and their goals for the future. According to Coco Chanel, a girl should be two things: who and what wants (to be). But that takes self-confidence and empowerment. Statistics show that this is the age group when girls are the most vulnerable to peer pressure and developing self-confidence.

A team of judges will select the most impactful girls who author these essays. We will video them for Rotary clubs and schools to use. The videos could be used for girls clubs and possibly at Rotary clubs as well.

One young lady will receive $500 for her special project or a scholarship. The top three will have the opportunity to meet with a panel of some of the most powerful women in our district for a bit of mentoring. On April 6th, Girl Possible Day, we will announce the name of that young lady and the two finalists. They will be featured in our social media and marketing.

Our goal is to use this year's success as a template to be used by other clubs in the future. The campaign will also be used for brand awareness and social media impact.

In the words of Glynda from Wizard of Oz "You've always had the power, my dear. You just had to learn it for yourself."
