Every hour we have dramatic changes from our National and Local health officials, and reflecting those changes, here is some late breaking news for 5810 Rotarians.

1. District Assembly will now be scheduled for May  16, at the same location in McKinney.  If you had  registered for the original date,  your registration will be transferred to the new date automatically. If you cannot make the May 16 date, it is important to let us know so that a refund may be given.  You can send an email to Pam Blankenzee or Sandra Moudy, John’s aide. This training is so important for all club officers and committee chairs, So please make every effort to attend.
2. Many clubs have suspended meeting face to face for at least all of March. Some clubs are meeting virtually, and Rotarians are invited to attend. Do check the District Calendar for updated event statuses. (some have cancelled/postponed).
     - Park Cities  will have a virtual meeting on Friday  from 12 noon-1:00.  The live streaming can be accessed through their Facebook https://www.facebook.com/RotaryClubOfParkCities/
     - our own district e-club of North Texas, as well as the newer club of Plano East will have access for 5810 Rotarians. Check their websites for meeting times and access instructions.
     - our Houston neighbors have invited us to join them for a “world’s largest e-meeting“ on Thursday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. I don’t have access information right now, but as it is received, we will put that information on the District website.
    - whenever any club cancels or changes the type of meeting, I.e., hold virtual meetings rather than face-to-face, PLEASE reflect that on your social media and website pages!

Again, do what is right for your club and you individually.

Our PI Director, Lynne McNamee, has offered to help any club who wants to use Zoom or other tools to hold their meetings. She can be reached at Lynne@lonearmadillo.com

3. Our RI President Mark Maloney reminded us that service still can be carried out, even with these uncertain times. Locally, your club may help with school lunches, as classes are suspended indefinitely. Plano East and Midlothian are hooking up with Meals on Wheels. Park  Cities invites clubs,  especially those in the Southern sector, to take a date helping at Fisher House near the VA hospital.  You may have confined senior citizens in the high risk category who need supplies such as food or that valuable commodity, toilet paper!

Look for service opportunities right in your own neighborhood. Demonstrate that incredible Rotary Spirit. Be creative. This can be 5810’s finest hour as we redefine the way we do business. Extraordinary times requires Extraordinary people, and that describes Rotarians.

Above all, Be safe and Stay well. We will be in touch... our next Roundtable may very well be a Virtual meeting!

Make Every Day Amazing!

In Rotary Service,

DG Beverly
