The Suicide Prevention and Brain Health (SPBH) Rotary eClub and UTDallas invite you to participate in the upcoming Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk and Resource Fair on the UT Dallas campus on Saturday morning, April 29, in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) North Texas Chapter.
There is no cost to register or participate, but donations are welcomed. We will have resources available from multiple organizatinos plus a story time for children followed by a program before the walk portion commences over a short paved route. You can register as an individual, create a new team or join an existing team. To join or donate to our club’s team, go to https://supporting.afsp.org/team/SPBHRotary. To create a new team or register as an individual, go to www.afsp.org/utdallas or use the QR code on the attached flyer. Incentives are available for individuals, teams and organizations.

Because our eClub and UTD are collaborating with AFSP using their donation platform, part of the funds raised is used to support local programs at UTD and surrounding communities and part is used to help fund the national programs of AFSP to include research and development of materials and programs to support suicide prevention and survivors of suicide loss. For our inaugural walk last year with a short planning time, we raised $15,000, had 125 registered participants and resources from 16 organizations. We are hoping to double participation this year as we have expanded our planning team to include additional on campus groups and are receiving more social media support from AFSP. Our portion of last year’s donations allowed us to have 4 free registrations for ASIST classes for our club and the University plus access to a college specific program offered by AFSP.

Please contact coordinators/eClub members Shirley Weddle (swbrainhealth@gmail.com) and Kacey Sebeniecher (Kacey.Sebeniecher@utdallas.edu ) for more details.
