Thirty-three years ago, as a high school student at R.M. Bailey Senior High School in The Bahamas, I joined the Interact Club. Little did I know, that decision would shape the course of my life. Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self” became the catalyst for my lifelong commitment to serving humanity.
Through Interact, I learned the power of leadership, compassion, and community service. Those early experiences fueled my passion for making a difference, not just in The Bahamas but around the world. Whether organizing local initiatives or supporting international causes, the values Rotary instilled in me remained at the heart of everything I did.
Fast forward 33 years, and I’m proud to continue that journey as a member of the Waxahachie Rotary Club. The love I have for this organization is now being passed on to the next generation—my son, Ricardo Miller Jr., who is a proud member of the Rotaract Club at the University of North Texas (UNT).
Rotary is more than meetings and projects, it’s a movement that transcends generations. Let’s celebrate the legacy of Rotary by sharing it with our children and grandchildren. If you love Rotary, pass it on!
