The Mesquite Rotary Club held induction ceremonies for the group’s 2020-2021 officers and board members at their Zoom meeting on August 4th.  All 33,000 local clubs in Rotary International change their leadership in July each year.
This provides for fresh vision and energy throughout the worldwide organization of business and professional leaders, which was established in 1905.  The official ceremonies had been somewhat delayed by pandemic related scheduling difficulties, and were performed by Rotary District 5810 Assistant District Governor Walt McCool.

The new leaders inducted to serve during the 2020-2021 Rotary year were club president Dr. Angel Rivera, president-elect Vince Falsarella, past president John Taylor, vice president Dr. Mike Noble, secretary Lindsay Paris, treasurer Dennis Tarpley, club service director Raymond Rivas, community service director Evelyn Williams, international service director Debi Holley, public relations director Dr. James Griffin, and sergeant at arms Dr. Jones Doughton.

In his remarks, the new Mesquite Rotary Club president Dr. Angel Rivera emphasized that the cancellation of this year’s fundraising Rodeo Road Rally bike ride due to the Covid-19 emergency will cause the club’s leaders to consider new types of fundraisers for this Rotary year.  He also said that the club’s board will soon be discussing those options, and will be setting goals for this most unusual year.  As much as possible, the group will try to continue this year in granting scholarships and supporting the work of many local groups. They will also continue to focus on assisting Rotary International programs to eradicate polio in the world, build sources and systems giving access to clean water, and more.
