The Rotary Club of Rockwall recently hosted a celebration to mark its 80th Anniversary. On April 6, 1939, there were 20 charter members forming the city’s oldest civic club.
Spanning eight decades, this elite group of local business leaders has long gathered to support the community and beyond, and worked to make it a better place to live, work and play.

More than 100 party-goers celebrated the club’s accomplishments as well as the past presidents and other leaders who have been instrumental in spearheading important programs and services along the way. Every year the club’s signature fundraiser, the Hot Rocks Bike Ride, helps provide thousands of dollars in scholarships for local high school students. At the 80th Anniversary Celebration, generous members past and present donated an additional $12,000 for this year’s scholarship fund.

As they are all over the world, Rotarians in Rockwall are known for their dedication to the motto of Service above Self. In this growing town, the Four-Way Test has guided the principles of the club for 80 years, inspiring members to go out into the world and make a difference—and it’s a stronghold that is destined to continue for decades to come.
