The Rotary Club of McKinney rang in the new Rotary year with more than just gavel-passing and goalsetting—this time, they kicked things off with dance moves and disco lights. At the Friday, July 11th meeting, just after the induction of McKinney Rotary board members by District Governor Mary Bedosky, the unexpected happened.
The speakers blared to life with the unmistakable beat of “Pump Up the Jam,” and dancers started popping up throughout the room. Some moments later, the tempo shifted to Dolly Parton’s iconic “Nine to Five,” and suddenly the room was alive with choreographed chaos.

Leading the charge? Niki Calabrese and her spirited crew known as The Dallas Flashers, who had secretly rehearsed the routine in the weeks leading up to the meeting. With high energy and even higher heels, the group brought down the house and left Rotarians cheering, clapping, and a few even trying to join in.

The flash mob not only sparked laughter but set a lighthearted tone for the year ahead. If this is any indication of what’s to come in McKinney Rotary, we’re in for a year of surprises, community, and some serious fun.
