District 5810's RYLA programming is busier than ever as we head into the fall academic year. We kicked off Modules One and Two of RYLead, our online leadership training program that launched in order to fulfil our promise to the students who were unable to attend camp in person this summer.
The students your club selected in the spring (with great effort--thank you again for all of your work!) have been working with their diverse cabin group already to have fun, work hard, and “step outside their comfort zones”.

In Module One, they also participated in a facilitation lead by Kevin Curry, RYLA 5810 alumni and local entrepreneur. He spoke vulnerably about leadership and mental health, and our students received his message with great enthusiasm and appreciation.

In Module Two, we heard from Katherine Kuzmeskas, RYLA 5810 alumni and CEO and co-founder of Tamarin Health. Kat facilitated an excellent conversation about effective decision making and one of our key pillars of leadership communication. While sharing her own experiences and hard-earned wisdom, Kat gave our students real takeaways and action items to strengthen their abilities to effectively make decisions about which they can feel confident.

Module Three is coming up on November 15th,  before a break for the holidays.  Between modules, students are engaging with their "cabin groups" on a daily basis, completing curriculum assignments, responding to fun challenges, and building new relationships.

Additionally, North Texas Giving Day was a huge success! Even in the midst of all the challenges that are facing non-profit organizations right now, we were able to match and exceed the total we were able to raise last year for the RYLA 5810 foundation.  Our RYLA alumni members had set a challenge grant of 5,000 dollars, and our District’s rotary members were able to step up and help meet that challenge.    The humility and encouragement we feel is more than words can describe.  We take our RYLA mission seriously, and every day remember that none of this is possible without the unwavering support of our Rotarians and other RYLA supporters.   Thank you so much!!
