On Sunday, October 11, Rotarians from White Rock Rotary Club, joined volunteers from St. Patrick Catholic in Lake Highlands to serve the weekly breakfast to Refugees participating in the church’s program. This is one of the ongoing projects where WRR members collaborate with St. Patrick Church to serve and build the community. The picture shows three Rotarians who stood up with members of the church in their Refugee Outreach program that started in 2001 to address a significant in increase in the settlement of refugees from Sudan and has now broadened its reach to include individuals from Burundi, Congo, Burma, Rwanda, Eritrea, Kenya and Tanzania.
Over 1,000 refugees have participated. The program seeks to build a sense of belonging and community to all.
