Rotary District 5810 Awards Program

The heart of Rotary is Service Above Self. Rotarians around the world work tirelessly, volunteering their time individually and through their clubs, to make their communities and their world a better place to live.  To keep the spirit of service alive, Rotary International believes that it is vital to provide recognition to those who actively participate in service activities.  Rotary International and a previous District 5810 Awards Committee have developed this guide to serve as a quick reference for the awards and recognition programs available during the Rotary year.  Leaders at the club and district levels should familiarize themselves with these awards and use them to help stimulate interest and participation in service activities.

This guide attempts to answer general questions about the purpose of each recognition program and who or what each is intended to recognize.  By compiling all of these awards and recognitions into one resource document, it is hoped that it will serve each club as a convenient tool.  It lists the awards available through District 5810, and the criteria used in evaluating nominations.

All district award nominations need to be submitted to the District 5810 Awards Committee for consideration by the due date listed on the District Calendar and on all  award nomination forms.

Individual District winners will receive a “small banner” to keep perpetually

It is recognized that many of the awards specify “within the current Rotary Year” yet often, depending on the desires of the current District Governor with respect to when and where District Awards are to be presented, the “nominations cut-off date” may be well before the end of the Rotary Year. Any project initiated in the current year that is not sufficiently completed by the “nominations cut-off date” to merit or support nomination for a current year award may be submitted for the following year’s Award.

Note: At the discretion of the District Awards Committee, certain individual awards may be given to clubs, and vice-versa. of the Year Nominating Form
